Well, now that we’re into the New Year — maybe halfway through, I have lost track, it could be time to discuss some of what’s going on in the state of Colorado. After all, the Colorado State Open Thread is open to pretty-much any topic, and I look forward to contributions from the readers. I know I don’t cover all the news from Colorado and I enjoy learning what’s of interest to various people from all points of the compass around here. We could talk about:
- Lauren Boebert’s actions to belittle Kevin McCarthy in his bid for the US House Speakership and how she told Trump that he should tell McCarthy to quit rather than keep at it (though in the end, she provided one of the final votes to get him over the finish line). I really and truly hope she isn’t representing the bulk of her district. I’m just afraid she is.
- Julie McCluskie, (D), Dillon, becoming the first female Speaker of the Colorado House from the western slope.
- The state legislature’s first day
- Jared Polis’ plans for busing migrants out of the state (and comparing that to Republican governors)
- The Denver Stock Show
- The child from Aurora who was gifted a grand piano (diary by Tevye — who else?)
- My upcoming trip to Cambodia, Thailand and Mexico (Suggestions for where to go / what to do are welcome)
- How Colorado’s snowfall has been very good this winter, though I guess I haven’t yet seen enough to be impressed.

Or any other topic that is on your mind. It certainly doesn’t have to be earth shattering — it could be questions about how to properly season your BBQ, or how much candy you still have left from Christmas (or Halloween) or whether you’re a coffee, tea or hot chocolate consumer (or hot buttered rum, or fruit juice, or alcohol) or other drink fan. Have fun — the floor is yours.
