The Colorado State Open Thread is going to be short this evening, simply because I’ve run out of time and imagination. Please feel free to share your thoughts and interests; there are many things going on at the end of this year.
One thing I’d like to share and invite you to come join me is in Boulder — a friend sent me a notice of something she’s seen in other areas (she too has lived in many areas around the country) and she encouraged me to go to the Boulder Dairy Arts Center and see the Rocky Mountain Revels: Les Temps des Fetes — a French-Canadian Solstice Celebration. This is being held from the 21st to the 23rd, and I chose tickets for the evening of the 22nd @ 7 PM. This is
Wednesday, 12-21-22 7 PM; Thursday 12-22-22 7 PM; Friday 12-23-22 1:30 PM and 6:30 PM – The annual Revels show tells the story of intrepid fur traders, a crafty devil, and a flying canoe. Young village men travel the waters to seek their fortune, then long for families and sweethearts as holidays draw near. What will they risk to get back in time for the annual celebrations? Traditional Revels show with a community chorus, dancers, sing-along, and Mummers Play featuring songs and folk tales of Quebec.

The price for adult tickets are $33.90. I chose the 22nd because it seems to have a number of open seats, still, and maybe we could get a few Kosacks (looking at you, Youff) to join us. Discuss down below if you’re available and interested in carpooling from the Denver metro. I’d be willing to carry someone down from the Estes Park/Fort Collins/Loveland/Longmont/Boulder area.
Even if that evening is already booked for your social calendar, this seems like it could be fun one of the other shows or for another year. I happen to have enjoyed canoeing on waters in Wisconsin and Minnesota one summer long ago and Les Voyageurs will surely have some great songs and stories.
Other than this production, the Mrs. and I don’t have much going on this holiday season. We have a pot luck that our neighborhood HOA president (a former space shuttle astronaut — he piloted the shuttle that put up the Hubble) will be putting on for those who are still here at winter time. Our kittens that we fostered and their Mom have all gone back to the Denver Dumb Friends League — two of the boys were adopted before they even made it out of the house by one of the workman who was installing our new fireplace.

We don’t have any more kittens at the moment, but that could change at a moment’s notice. The kitty’s mother was even prettier than the kittens.
Please go ahead and talk about whatever’s on your mind this evening. For some, this might be your first winter in Colorado; for others, who are old hands, we may have endured many cold nights, deep snows and reindeer on rooftops (and elk and deer in roads while driving). Have you driven around town to see Christmas lights? There may still be tours that take you so you can drink while enjoying them. Have you visited the Christmas village just off the ice skating rink in downtown Denver? Any other towns have special displays or holiday traditions?
Just a few more shopping days before Christmas, though I will be giving some donations this year in addition to gifts. I’m looking forward to hearing from you. The floor is yours.
